Skiers

Mini Rippers (ages 3-4) - Back By Popular Demand!!

The Mini Rippers Ski & Snowplay program is a fun introduction to the sport for first time skiers and those still refining their beginning skills. The objectives are to familiarize the child with the equipment and snow environment, build the skills necessary to be successful, transfer that base to a skiing environment and most importantly to have FUN! As well as on snow instruction, children may participate in activities such as arts and crafts, sledding, a walk around the village, watching a movie, and snowplay. As children advance, they will be moved up to the Little Rippers program and will start exploring the mountain. Please note this is not a day care program, to participate children must be fully potty trained and ready to learn. Is your child ready to learn? Click here for some general guidelines.

Reservations are recommended as space is limited. A clearly legible copy of the birthcertificate is required as proof of age for all three year old children. Please keep in mind that the Mini Ripper program is physically demanding and not advised for timid children. Each child must be ready to participate in a group setting without parents in attendance.

Mini Rippers lesson times: Full day 10:30am - 3:30pm, half day (morning only) 10:30am - 12:30pm.  Children should be dropped off ready to go half an hour before start of lesson.  Drop off and pick up is in the Children's Room.

Little Rippers (ages 5-6)

This program is designed specifically for 5 - 6 year old skiers, providing a fun, safe learning environment for first timers through those wanting to take on all of Kirkwood's legendary terrain.  Those mini-rippers (3 & 4yrs) that progress onto the chairlift are promoted to the Little Rippers skiing groups as their skills build.   Group sizes are kept small so that each child gets the individual attention that they require.

Mountain Explorers (ages 7-12)

A program specifically designed for 7 - 12 year old skiers to help them progress quickly, while staying safe and having fun. The kids explore some amazing terrain; the specially designed terrain parks and all of Kirkwood's secret stashes, while shredding the snow with specially trained coaches. The Mountain Explorers program is a great way to encourage kids' sense of adventure and on-mountain safety and helps them to reach that next level with style and confidence.

Little Rippers & Mountain Explorers lesson times:  Full day 10:30am - 3:45pm, AM half day - 10:30am - 12:45pm, PM half day - 1:30pm - 3:45pm.  Children should be dropped off by 10am for morning and AM lessons, 1:15pm for afternoon lesson.  Drop off and pick up is in the rainbow fenced area by the magic carpets.

Snowboarders

The Burton Groms (ages 5-6)

The grom program is set up for the youngest of riders to help them start ripping at an early age.  Set up to promote fun and excitement in the sport with learning focused around games and skill building, on and off their snowboards. Our coaches are specifically trained to remove the frustration found when young riders first start riding.  Our programs are designed to keep them enjoying the sport for years to come.  The groups are kept super small so that each child gets the attention they need, resulting in smiles all around at the end of the day.

Groms lesson times: Full day 10:30am - 3:30pm, half day (morning only) 10:30am - 12:30pm.  Children should be dropped off ready to go half an hour before start of lesson. Drop off and pick up is in the Children's Room.

Mountain Explorers (ages 7-12)

This program was designed for riders ages 7-12 years old to help them progress quickly, while staying safe and having fun. Our newly redesigned Adventure land and the Rip Curl Playground encourage early development of skills that translate into safe well rounded riders on the mountain and in the terrain park. Mountain Explorer coaches and instructors are specially trained to teach kids of all ability levels, from the very basics to those mastering the mountain and use our amazing terrain to help each child reach their potential and beyond.

Mountain Explorers lesson times:  Full day 10:30am - 3:45pm, AM half day - 10:30am - 12:45pm, PM half day - 1:30pm - 3:45pm.  Children should be dropped off by 10am for morning and AM lessons, 1:15pm for afternoon lesson.  Drop off and pick up is in the rainbow fenced area by the magic carpets.
